FBLA's "Walking for a Cure"

DID YOU KNOW?! that Diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness among adults aged 20–74 years old.

DiabetesThe FBLA club will be sponsoring a Community Service event, "Walking for a Cure!" in order to support the American Diabetes Association. November is American Diabetes awareness month, and we are making our voice heard. Everyone knows a family member or friend that has diabetes, and we are all affected by this disease in one way or another. All members of the school and community are highly encouraged to attend this event. Please see Mr. Murray in A233 to sign up. (It's free!) If you are not a student or teacher, call the school at (606) 679-1574 and ask for James Murray, so that you can put  your name on the FBLA's "Walking for a Cure!" signup list!

This event will take place on November 21st at 10:00. We will meet at the PCHS tennis courts, and will walk to the Pulaski County Court House and back. Donations are accepted and appreciated! Water will be provided by the FBLA club to all participants.

For one week, millions of young people around the world will join a growing movement of entrepreneurial people, to generate new ideas and to seek better ways of doing things. Countries across six continents are coming together to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. To think big. To turn their ideas into reality. To make their mark.

From 16 - 22 November 2009, Global Entrepreneurship Week will connect young people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Through this initiative, the next generation of entrepreneurs will be inspired and can emerge. In doing so, they will begin to acquire the knowledge, skills and networks needed to grow innovative, sustainable enterprises that have a positive impact on their lives, their families and communities.

In Pulaski County, PCHS DECA officers, Lindsey Stephens and Morgan Pike met with the city mayor Eddie Girdler and the Judge Executive Barty Bullock. They then signed a proclamation and declared November 16-22, Global Entrepreneurship Week in Pulaski County. We encourage all young teens and anyone interested in entrepreneurship to reach out and spread your ideas with your community.
